How to choose a felt bag organizer that fits

A bag organizer works best when it fits the space you actually use. Start with your tote and your daily essentials, then compare measurements before choosing an insert.

Measure the usable space inside your own bag. The illustration is a guide, rather than a to-scale product drawing.

1. Measure the inside, rather than the outside

Set your bag on a flat surface in its usual shape. Measure the usable space across the base, from front to back, and from the base to the opening. An outside measurement can include seams, padding or a curved edge that an insert cannot occupy.

Check the narrowest part of the opening as well. A tote may have a wide base but a smaller zip opening, and the organizer still needs to pass through it. If the base slopes or curves, use the smaller usable measurement. Leave clearance for the bag to close and for your hand to reach the contents.

2. Compare the measurements with a real listing

Our medium felt bag insert is listed at 27 × 16 × 12.5 cm, or approximately 10.63 × 6.30 × 4.92 inches. These are the supplier’s dimensions for the selected medium version. Compare all three dimensions with your bag, and ask us to confirm the final version before dispatch.

Those numbers do not guarantee a fit in every tote. A bottle, a padded base or a curved corner can change the space left over. When a listing does not distinguish an outer measurement from an internal one, confirm which measurement is being quoted.

3. Make a short list of the things you carry

Put your usual items together: a phone, keys, wallet, notebook, glasses case and anything else you use daily. Group small loose items separately from bulky ones. Decide which things should stay upright and which need their own pocket.

An insert should make those items easier to reach without making the bag difficult to close. If you change bags regularly, compare the insert with the smallest bag you intend to use. A removable organizer can simplify the change, provided each bag has enough usable space.

4. Check the material and the practical details

The medium insert is listed as polyester felt. Check the actual material on each product page: a felt item is not automatically a wool item. Also look at pocket layout, the way the base sits, and whether the bag still closes comfortably with the insert in place.

Follow the care label supplied with the finished item. Avoid assuming that a storage insert can be machine washed merely because it looks soft. Before ordering, we can help clarify the selected size, shade and finished construction.
